Hipsters, man: so ironic their 80’s t-shirts never wrinkle.
Cracked Goes High-Brow

From the people that brought you such immortal works of prose as “5 Whores That Changed the Course of History” and “7 Dinosaurs You Could Take in a Fight,” we have this: “5 Ways Common Sense Lies to you Every Day.” Cue the snarky comments:

Now, I have to give the author of “5 Ways Common Sense Lies to You Every Day” credit for taking the relatively intellectual high-road here and trying to discuss some principles of logic, but consider your target audience: every single one of them has an iPhone fart app. Or ring tone. Or they just have gas from eating too many Cheetos. Stick to ironic reference to 80s and 90s pop culture, and you’ll be better off.
Of course, who am I to judge? This is just a meta-blog nobody reads anyway :). (The Nirvana Fallacy - look it up, or read Cracked.com regularly).
And while we’re on the subject, whatever happened to the good ol’ “Top 10 Lists?” They can only produce 5? Are the writers at Cracked.com really so lazy that… oh. Oh, never mind.

On news from Defamer that documentarian (is that a word?) Ken Burns has lost General Motors as a key sponsor:
Anybody want to scribe some teary, heart-felt letters to PBS that will themselves become fodder for a Ken Burns documentary in 100 years?

It’s all becoming clear! If you follow the entomology of Microsoft Windows back far enough, you’ll discover it’s engineers are the direct descendants of Jesus. Dan Brown had it right all along.

Leave it to the Reddit community to follow on from a rather remarkable story about “death by freezing” with marauding wolf packs, lycanthropic behavior, Romulous and Remus, Swedish and Canadian verbal ticks and the Quebecois. In 6 posts. Nice one guys!

Hi all, welcome to a new blog about the Internet Zietgeist, covering the dark corners and back allies we refer to as talkbacks and user comments. A lot of sites have them now, that dumping ground just below the main article where members of the community feel compelled to either contribute to a topical discussion or bring it low with vile insults and sordid opinions. DataSpoke.com is a celebration of that phenomina, so if you happen to run across some, que us in and we’ll report on it. Happy sniping!
